    Thank you for the above analysis. Are you thinking of a collapse in the price of IO? That's the only way that makes sense to me of a collapse in FMG share price. Surely the IO price is the key to that.

    The world of China didn't collapse in the GFC and that pretty much held Australia together, it was our miners digging stuff out of the ground that saved our bacon. That and our government guaranteeing our bank deposits. China just printed some money and got on with importing raw materials, building infrastructure and improving their country. The essentials of iron ore and coal pretty much became gold proxies.

    The world of banking and finance games that exist in the US and Europe is not echoed in Aus/Asia to the same extent. I can maybe see some pain in Aussie overpriced real estate providing issues for banks and some retail, but not collapse. Our share market would not escape unscathed either due to businesses in the direct line of fire of US and Europe and also accompanying sentiment. However thanks to our position in Asia we should be somewhat shielded from the worst of any troubles caused by the elites overseas.

    On the other hand we might all be rooned, who am I to know . .
