    Wise words James,

So, a tiny MMK s/holder walks into a local Russian Court in Mr Rashnikov's own home town, and was granted a hearing date without any official notice given to either Mr Rashnikov or MMK... hmmm?
    ___

"The drama began in Chelyabinsk, a remote Russian city close to the border with Kazakhstan that is Magnitogorsk’s base. A judge there ruled that a shareholder named Elena Egorova would be hurt if the deal went through and on Thursday refused to lift an injunction that blocked the deal."

"A judge there ruled that a shareholder named Elena Egorova would be hurt if the deal went through...?

Only those familiar with the name, Viktor Rashnikov would understand the irony of those few words...

Only those familiar with the name, Viktor Rashnikov would understand that if the story being told here was indeed true, both the judge and Ms Egorova will become folklore legends for many centuries to come, and I'd imagine Hollywood Directors will also be tripping over themselves to create the guaranteed blockbuster movie, and its many guaranteed sequels to follow...
    ___

"Both companies vow to appeal the ruling. Magnitogorsk, which has a stock-market value of $5.5 billion, has said it would try to prove Ms. Egorova’s lawsuit was “illegitimate” and a hearing is scheduled for April 25."

If Mr Rashnikov wants ANY deal to go through, it will go through first time, every time... no questions, no ifs, no buts, no injunctions, no appeals. Period!
    ___

"A Magnitogorsk spokesman said the company was trying to track down Ms Egorova."

It would not be a very difficult task to find anyone hiding within the boarders of Russia, if Mr Rashnikov wants you found...
    ___

Where I remain most perplexed with this story is at the beginning where it's claimed Mr Rashnikov offered to acquire Flinders shares at a 100% premium...

If Mr Rashnikov wants shares in a company, history appears to dictate, he will take them...

"At the end of the 90's Rashnikov made workers of the MMK transfer their shares in trust of the company "Mekom”, and in 2003 the workers were told that their shares had been sold. ~ Russian Mafia
    ___

"There is also speculation that Egorova’s move is a greenmail attempt, and that in time she will be bought off, and the deal proceed to completion. It would be surprising if this is an amateur greenmail attempt against Rashnikov, especially as it will not be difficult to find Egorova in Siverskoye village if Rashnikov wants her found. If the greenmailers are professional, it’s unlikely they would pick Rashnikov’s region to go to court. They would assume Rashnikov can influence the judges in the region, so they would pick a jurisdiction as far from his reach as possible. The ease with which Egorova won her freeze order is not only unusual in arbitrazh court records; to have done so on Rashnikov’s turf suggests that he might have acquiesced." ~ Source
