Bernanke?? Lol. He's made some horrid calls, he certainly didn't call the recession we have underway. Check out some of his statements from earlier in the year.
We don't have much of a precedent to base this situation off, confidence has bottomed out already. Markets will recover before official figures show things to have improved (obviously, otherwise everyone would ride it back up). Supply has fallen / is falling, nobody is sure how much it will take, though it will surely overshoot.
