ecsc - with respect, it was not open to BTA to suspend the stock for the period between deal announcement and the shareholder vote. A company can't just suspend its stock without good reason - and there was no reason why the ASX would grant such a suspension.
Also - it is not surprise at all that the deal is taking five months. Many deals do.
