Short selling, margin call buying.etc should only be entertained if you have the cash to lose it. I know a guy that was up $2.5m on margin buying and then the market tanked. He got greedy. Ended up with nothing plus maxed out credit cards.
Buying options are less risky in that what you buy is your Max loss but too many people get greedy and wait until it's too late and the oppies become worthless.
