But on a risk / reward basis shorting VRX does not make any sense
just to illustrate without allowing for transactional costs
let's say you short 100 000 shares at say 11 cents
And they went to near enough to zero
Your maximum profit would be $11K
But if they “took off” to say $4.
(wishful thinking I know)
the shorter would lose $390,000 to buy back their short position
Bottom line
Shorting cheap shares absolutely limits maximum profit
and exposes the shorter to unlimited loss.
