This is a term that I have noticed recently being used by big pharma as a key strategic direction they are pursuing.

I have not noticed the term used by Phylogica before, yet it seems to describe a direction I think their science has been heading.

Follow-On Biologics is the process of renovating an existing (FDA approved) type of drug to make them more effective. The drugs are made more effective by better targeting, delivery, lower dosage etc.

The financial implications to big pharma are a 10 fold reduction in cost/time getting the drug to the market because of prior clearances of the previously accepted drugs.

Big pharma may eventually choose to screen all their drugs to explore for efficiencies.

I understand PYC has the science that demonstrates small peptides could be very helpful at dragging drug cargoes to targeted cells.

PYC also claims to have some patent strength and uniqueness around their small peptide library devised from all those shapes found in nature.

    I hope that is correct.

That library is valued in the 10's $ millions in the current market, but to have it owned outright by a big pharma, it could very well be valued at 100's $ millions, if not $ billions.

If PYC started using that term Follow-On Biologics, it may also help find the overseas investors exploring into the space.
