On February 19, Australian lithium battery stocks surged, with market speculation mainly driven by CATL's suspected closure of mining at the Ganxiawo lithium mine in Yichun, China.
On the same day, reporters from The Paper learned from local insiders in Yichun that Ningde Times’s Lixiawo lithium-containing porcelain clay ore dressing plant is indeed not currently in operation, but it is a normal Spring Festival holiday, and mining activities are still going on normally before the Spring Festival.
However, the source said, “The amount of lithium mined by the factory has decreased compared with the original plan, especially after the price of lithium carbonate fell below 100,000 yuan/ton, and the Ganxiawo Lithium Mine also reduced its mining accordingly.” It is expected that the factory will continue to reduce production after the holiday.

Industry insiders pointed out that in Jiangxi lepidolite (lithium-containing porcelain clay ore, the raw ore of lepidolite) mines, depending on the grade, the complete cost of producing lithium carbonate from lepidolite mines below 0.4% is 120,000-150,000 yuan/ton; 0.4 The complete cost of lithium carbonate produced by mines between 0.6% and 0.6% is 80,000-100,000 yuan per ton; the complete cost of lithium carbonate produced by more than 0.6% of mines is within 80,000 yuan per ton.

Therefore, when the price of lithium carbonate is around 200,000 yuan/ton, companies extracting lithium from lepidolite can still make a profit; if the price is lower than 120,000 yuan/ton, most lithium carbonate companies extracting lithium from mica in Jiangxi will lose money.
On February 19, data from Shanghai Nonferrous Network showed that the domestic price of lithium carbonate fell by 290 yuan to close at 96,800 yuan/ton.
