Would it not be the case that with cancers no-one can be given pre-emptive guarantees of success before actual treatment, regardless of the treatment involved? Results would/could differ for each patient.

I assume that the quote "we know it works" must relate to the fact that the early research indicated a capacity to inhibit the progress of ovarian cancer in certain circumstances but it still has to be sufficiently statistically proven including the degree of the improvement as to justify FDA approval.

Just my unqualified inexpert assumptions on the issue.
