The effects of the virus do vary across individuals, age groups the sick and the more vulnerable in society. Sadly people died while others recovered with with and without medical intervention. The same environment persists today. The "wider issues" are caused by an inconceivable deficiency of foresight and planning to cater for the expected contagion.
