It may have changed but the 6 points you noticed are the spread for index arbitrage bots. You used to be able to see their orders (quotes) in the SPI order book. It is a bit harder these days.
Anyway, their impact is fairly large. The machine that is operated by DB does up to 10% of the market at times. Considering that there are a few more operators out there .... Now, in theory they have no 'opinion' on the market. They don't move it. But this is the theory.
