I wouldn't discount the rigor behind Whitneys research. She goes well beyond the shop front numbers.

But say for instance the US does end up the next Japan (SNAFU'd), and figuring Japan's attempts at intervention to strengthen their own trade balance - something is going to give out.

    AUSTRALIAS TOP 6 EXPORTS - currently 2010
    China 24%
    Japan 20%
    Korea 10%
    India 5.8%
    USA 4.1%
    Taiwan 4%

5YR GROWTH OF THESE EXPORTS (using 2005 and 2010)
    China 269% (growth over base)
    Japan 54%
    Korea 79%
    India 168%
    USA 1% (yes, that's a one)
    Taiwan 46%

Wouldn't you think this is going to test the monkey see, monkey do relationship of the SPX to XAO/XJO?

Based on the above, I would put Australia's future well and truly into Asian hands + India's growing hunger.

Foreign investment will flood into AUS if the US folds and AUS maintains a level head on the back of Asia/India demand.
