... especially from Local Govts. to the States or Federal Govt.
.... at best, all they do is usually hinder development, waste taxpayer's money, and balls up most of what they do.

I remember some Victorian Govt. minister at the time, saying there wasn't enough rain at the time to fill new dams, if they had them.

These taxpayer assisted organisations have the luxury of using monies wastefully and should take a leaf out of how private enterprise works, ... it either does or it doesn't.
It either is profitable or not, and stays in existence or doesn't.

As far as the Greenies go, when we have our droughts, floods, bush fires, etc., ... would they like to legislate against that as well ?

The carefully planned building of dams/weirs, etc., would be the correct thing for us to do, with minimum loss of ecosystems, etc., ... if they had the real experts doing the job.
