    Hi Pezzimist,

when a stock is going down - not just short term but in a sustained way then everyone should be a trader - if by that definition you mean to sell.

It is not a crime to sell a stock and buy back at a lower price if you love the stock.

By definition - to hold a falling stock and sustain losses because of an emotional attachment to an opinion about what the stock should be doing is a recipe for disaster. Investment 101 - never fall in love with the story.

Investment 102 - the big boys ALWAYS know better than you what is happening and usually long in advance.

Investment 103 - the big boys can make things happen to stocks just because it suits them and regardless of the fundamentals. When that is being done methodically to a chart pattern then everyone else needs to be taking this into account or accepting their role as cannon fodder.

This trading discipline will be particularly valuable when one day the market turns - as it will eventually (for no obvious reason other than that they are measures of the future not the current) and starts trending down. Then the mug punter traders will be sorted from the professionals as they give all their profits back.
