Let's pretend that we're of similar age and that:
- you can do a 100m sprint in 10.5 seconds
- I can do it in 12.8 seconds

Ok, cool - a difference of 2.3 seconds.

We know you're a decent sprinter, but let's try to exaggerate it. 10.5s puts you in the 95th percentile for our age bracket. 12.8s puts me in the 30th percentile

The difference in percentile rank is 65!!!

That's fair, there's an ocean between us...

BUT

Is 10.5s great? No. No it isn't.

Where's the point? Here:

If you'd done something impressive and cracked 9.5 seconds, like ATL1102 appears to have done with stabilisation (granted - small sample), the talking point wouldn't be:

Boomy has a 65 point percentile difference over Meph.

It would be:

Boomy Breaks 9.5 seconds!!!

Are you picking up what I'm putting down?
