Most technologies have improved BECAUSE we have found that the use of other elements, such as rare earths,perform better than the existing elements. Without rare earth's, where would the advances in battery technology have gotten us. For that reason alone, and that there is no substitute for rare earth's, all the technological advances should still require rare earth's.
