I can not tell you how many directors have been criminally prosecuted for trading whilst insolvent however I am sure there are a lot more than you think (check ASIC website). Liquidators make claims civil claims against directors for trading whilst insolvent. It would be niaive to think that all directors of major listed companies are not aware of these exposures.
Forget ASIC as it is the civil claims by the liquidator that the directors would be mostly concerned with. To think these are real exposures and only theories taught in law school is niaive.
