It’s weeks like these that shake your faith in FBR - the company successfully proves the Hadrian works out in the suburbs and the share price falls 30 percent... However, I still believe that FBR will be a roaring success. Why? Blind faith? No, I’ve been invested in FBR from the very beginning and I have as much confidence in the company now than ever.

For the long term holders, we’ve been through plenty of ups and downs - there was the glorious morning when the Saudi Arabia MOU was announced, the elation when the CAT MOU was announced (and the corresponding disappointment when the CAT arrangement didn’t work out), the Wienerberger agreement, the World Expo announcement (now delayed to next year due to COVID-19) - I feel like being invested in FBR is like dating a hot temperamental girlfriend...nothing will test your emotions like it.

When I ask myself why I’m invested, it comes down to this - do I think a bricklayer will be breaking their back laying bricks by hand for the next 100 years when so many of the manual processes in our world have been automated? No I don’t, not when bricklaying apprenticeships are decreasing each year, not when continuous improvement is the focus of every company in the world, not when I witnessed the Hadrian lay blocks 5 times larger than normal bricks perfectly over the past weekend. I believe they’ll still be a place for hand crafted bricklaying on specialised houses but the world is changing rapidly, whether we like it or not.

When you talk to the Pivacs, there isn’t a doubt in their mind that FBR will be a billion dollar company. They know the technology is world leading and that it works. They believe that they have the smarts and ability to overcome any obstacle. They have a clear vision to commercialisation. It will take time. COVID-19 has delayed things a little. Unfortunately, we live in a world where we want instant returns (myself included). However, it takes time for the ground breaking inventions of our time to show their value. Tesla with their constant losses was a punchline - they are now the most valuable car company in the world with a fraction of the sales. It’s because investors envision an electric future. I envision a digital construction future and for me, that’s enough to be excited about.
