It defeats the purpose of the exercise somewhat doesn't it? Why would you charge a battery, for building use, from the mains? Volt drop from resistance and cost immediately come to my mind to replace a power source, that evidently, already is existing. It seems to me, that idea is a regressive step as you propose it. Automotive recharging stations are being installed about. Rome wasn't built in a day.
