New kid in the neighbourhood
Date: 29/7/2004 Author: Katrina Nicholas Source: The Australian Financial Review --- Page: 17 Australian telco Neighborhood Cable needs $A500 million. According to CEO Fred Grossman, that is what it would cost to deliver to rural Australia pay-TV, voice and broadband services independently of Telstra. Grossman is realistic enough to know that not even his company's 67% shareholder Telecom Venture Group will outlay that sort of money. He says the alternative is to grow slowly and organically until the company's cashflow allows it to start work on the national project itself. Currently, Neighborhood Cable's network covers the Victorian centres of Mildura, Ballarat and Geelong.
