It's been my experience that there is no perfect painting, just working through ideas, some ideas I know won't work but I still need to work through them, let them go so to speak. I mainly do quite large pieces on canvas, belgium linen. Painting with blacks, Paynes greys and Whites with small areas of contrasting colours. When i was younger, it was a tormenting process now it has become quite cathartic, not that I'm old or anything lol. I've let go of a lot of the romanticism and belief of creating something special and now paint without much heightened expectation but try to be honest in my work. Perhaps thats it, a continuous search for truth, without fanfare.
