i was looking at the New FJ cruisers 24k in america 50+k in Oz
The current tariff is 5% on imported cars...the issue is wholesaler margins and volumes and Government taxes...not tariffs.
The importers and wholesalers aren't going to be cutting their margins anytime soon...so better get used to being ripped off in this country.
There was an article in the press recently about how much we pay for cars in Australia as opposed to the rest of the world.
IMO car prices will go up if we have no manufacturers here.
