I don't think Ford are blameless. They have backed their past winner the CUV over the last 5 years whilst they were popular with american car buyers, but stayed with the product when the market changed and people did not want the product anymore. Their investment in plant and equipment compared with Toyota is poor. As I see it, Ford does not have the ability to meet market change quick enough. That said, they have incurred large losses with expensive lay offs, restructuring etc. Its debt is rated as "JUNK". 2006 was the worst year since Henry Ford founded the company 100 years ago.
