Bit of shame to see jobs go. I work in manufacturing and don't think a falling dollar is going to help. The cost of living is just so high in this country! Especially mortgages vs wages.

We get more and more of our stuff out of China and India these days. Its crap quality but ridiculously cheap.

The knock on effect from this closure will be significant I think but worse still, this country will start to lose its skill base. People in office jobs will sit back and say "So what" (well not always, just look at the QLD government public servants complaining lately) but once you lose that skill base, the country has less to offer. We'll just become a services country with tourism...nothing else.

More tough times ahead for manufacturers I think.
