Chrysalis your maps have a flaw
Before ~1970 there was no Palestine
There was the British mandate of Palestine (European name for the region) that was divided up into Jordan, and later the remainder into an Arab state and a Jewish state. The Jews accepted and called their state Israel. The Arabs did not accept - they wanted it all even though the UN had had only offered the Jews land where their populations were and all neutral or uninhabited land went to the Arabs.
Both Jessie's and your maps show that over time the Jews and Arabs have lost land.
Arabs always lost land because they attacked Israel with the stated aim of its total annihilation, and lost. They could accept Jews as second class citizens but not in control of even a minuscule amount of land.
Jews always lost land because they voluntarily withdrew in the hope it would bring peace.

PS if you read any literature on the British mandate of Palestine written before 1950, you will find that
"Arabs" is used to refer to the Arabs,
"Jews" is used to refer to Jews that had moved to Europe after the Romans destroyed Judea and then moved back and
"Palestinians" refer to Jews who had stayed in the middle east after the destruction of Judea and had no European blood.
It is only after 1970 that the Arabs decided to call themselves Palestinians - at least in part for political reasons as at that time Israel had underdog status.
