I cannot understand the level of indignation all of a sudden when hiring foreign born personal is mentioned. This has been the case for many decades. When I lobbed up at Kapooka there were several Kiwis a couple of poms and a Fijian born lad. As I progressed through the ensuing yrs I met people born in Denmark,Germany, PNG, Samoa and Singapore.. Good diggers every one of them so whats all the noise about? At a reunion I Brisbane a few yrs ago I was introduced to a Captain and a senior NCO who had been recruited from the British army to fill positions in the crucial EOD stream.
