the development of awareness of human rights and the right to be treated with dignity by Govt authorities. Yes it doesn't happen much here or the US but many other nations are way ahead of us.
scientific advancement is astonishing. especially the response to covid has exemplified the marvel of medical science and development. A new show on ABC - https://iview.abc.net.au/show/invisible-wars - is well worth watching.
and Yes, global warming. again here and the US are behind in a big way, but at least the yanks are getting moving again. Soon we will be the only nation fool enough to vote for doing nothing. Yet still, against the political ineptitude to the point of being anti growth and development, Aus industry is heavily invested in technology just waiting for a sensible word from Govt to start the ball rolling. (it'll happen eventually)

I could go on about the achievements of that lest 30 years but I'm sure your jaded post doesn't indicate a lack of awareness.

but as for space exploration, it doesn't mean we have to physically go there anymore. yet humans will certainly be on Mars pretty soon. If the Chinese don't get there first, one of the dynamic duo, Bezos and Musk, will by 2025 imo.
