I highly doubt any billionaire is an angel. You don't get to the top by being a nice guy. The push into renewables isn't to save the planet, it's to make the business more profitable in the long term. If he can reduce China needing to shut down steel mills due to pollution then that means they'll buy more ore. Green investments are a big thing so it also means buyers are more likely to buy from FMG than other producers that don't have a plan. BHP is under pressure currently to show how they plan to cut scope 3 emissions. So yeah it's not all just for the happy feelings.
