Wouldn't almost half of that native timber be in the the National Parks which are about 1.43million hectares of the total 6.8million hectares for the island?
Bush fires in rainforests are a rare event for obvious reasons and that's what most of it was before it got cut down and seeded for commercial returns.
They didn't want rainforest, so they replaced it with a special plantation mix.
