    I rang them about this about 8 months ago. During specific announcements, they deliberately widen the spread for about 30 minutes. Around the announcement - decided by management.

    You beat this by entering well before it.

    Me: They would be aware people use the announcements to load up and scalp. Wider spreads discourages this practice.

    Then they reset them But it is deliberately done.
