    Rope’s, splicing and knot’s are just part of life when you work in a nautical setting.

    Breaking down fish also gives people like me a little edge when it comes to knife work and cooking because we don’t have anyone else to do it for us but nowhere near the level of any of the proper butchers that I’ve known.
    Mind you, being a fisherman I seem to have come to know plenty of farmer’s and while I’ll never try to dress out a beast or a sheep I’ve been shown enough to run a sheep or pig through a meat saw without losing a digit

    I find that people who have lived rural/remote seem to have a slightly broader range of skill’s than the Metro types.
    Not to mention that these rural/remote types can tend to be a bit more “off beat” than the metro types
