If you google 'ancient coins' a whole new world opens up.
I was surprised at how many coins there were relatively speaking from those times. I think because there were no banks people used to have little hoards of coins buried in their house or something like that, so when they dig up ancient ruins there is usually a few around the place. Most probably a rip off when trying to buy in Australia, but I ave a few just out of interest more than anything. There's auctions for ancient coins too no doubt on the web.
