l think there will be a role for green hydrogen in areas such as firming and the chemical industry in particular. Especially where there are excesses of renewable generation.
However, for general transportation . No way.
l did favor it for heavy interstate trucks but batteries have improved so much that l'm not so sure now. Time will tell.
Battery powered evs have already proved that we can build a decent sized safe car with a decent range.
Battery density continues to improve . Ev range of 500 to 1000km at a affordable price isn't far away.

That said it is already happening in South Australia now. Like most things, they are still working the bugs out of it.
The electricity ' fuel ' supply system is available in every building already. Millions of fuel stations. All over the country. Even in the outback. Hydrogen will never compete with that.
No one is going to want to drive to a hydrogen fueling station and a hydrogen fueling network to rival the electricity system will never be built anyway.
lce cars can be powered by hydrogen. lt just isn't practical.
Fuel cell hydrogen cars are just an ev with an onboard electricity generator. A battery ev offers much more design flexibility with much better fueling options.
