All these batteries need charging, and all that power generation needs to come from somewhere. The holy Grail may still be solid state, since that probably removes fire risk. Building thousands of Km's of wire/towers across peoples properties and generating low carbon power, is the real issue imo. The costs are astronomical. If the govt decided to go gas/ nuclear as part of that picture, then we could probably use more of the existing infrastructure instead and make it base load.
People have slowed down on buying Ev's and the battery life remains an issue. Even with maintenance, they have a life. The second hand market for these cars is a wall waiting to run into. I am sure there is a tipping point for battery companies over time.
