I am not a holder (and not looking to be as I only invest in companies showing growth, no matter how tempting their future prospects might be).
My advice to you, built on painful experience + long nights of reading thousands of books and talking to smart people, is to invest only when outflows have stopped. MFG might not be a bad investment when it has hit the floor, cruising along mentioned floor for a while and then slowly creeping upwards (if ever). The reason I tell you this is because downward pressure can last for years, sometimes for decades. I didn’t start to make money in the market until I realised that it’s better to make 1% in one company rather than -68% in one company and + 20% in another. I hope I don’t come across all-knowing or anything (because I’m far from it), but if my mistakes during my first decade in the market can make someone avoid doing them, I’m happy.
