Just did a little comparison of previous significant rallies in ORP...

Looked at the points moved, volumes traded and the possible causes for each.

The main ones I can see start around the following times...

    14 Sept 2001 (1.4 - 3.3c):
    no details as to why

    20 Dec 2002 (1.0 - 3.9c):
    Acquisition of Pungkut Gold Project
    Rights issue

    13 Feb 2004 (2.4 - 3.3):
    Frankfurt Stock Exchange Listing

    12 March 2004 (2.2 - 3.9):
    Macquarie Europe Presentation - Zurich/Switzerland
    Pungkut Gold Project

    9 July 2004 (1.8 - 3.5):
Placement...most of the rise occurred after the placement.

As is typical of most rallies, the volumes traded have increased on each occassion, but only marginally compared to the recent volumes.

There were two occassions however, when the volumes approached those recently traded, both of which involved the European connection, these were...

13 Feb 2004 - Frankfurt Stock Exchange Listing

    12 March 2004 - Macquarie Europe Presentation

    I find this very interesting.

The early morning large bidding we have seen of late is very typical of off-shore buying, adding further weight to the theory that it is mainly international (European) money flooding in.

    But why?

ORP have been in discussions with brokers in London and Zurich...perhaps they like what they have seen?

Could there be a placement on the way?...the previous placement induced rally continued much higher than the placement price and for quite a while afterwards.

One final point...on each of the previous high volume rallies mentioned above, the volumes did not approach the same levels as those traded recently until the final days of each rally, the duration of which lasted from a couple of weeks to just over a month.

To have such large volumes trading at the very start of a rally (less than 1 week old) is new ground for ORP in my opinion...perhaps signalling a change of furtune for the group?

    Cheers!
