Formal dining on a cruise ship.

    Our Xmas cruise has three formal dining nights. Does anyone know what it entails?

    Small problem: I have not owned a tie for over twenty years and the last suit I had was the one I got married in 50 years ago. If they are just BS then we will eat burgers that night but if they are "something special, part of the experience" then I might have to organise something.

    Can anyone help here?
