Una fatsa una ratsa. Never had a problem with rome nor venice and florence. I know lots complain about visits there but never been touched by it ourselves. Wife knows a little italian from school days so gotten by really well there - hence why I want to drive thru.
We drove from pisa to rome last time. Stopped along the way at these lovely little places you never heard of - about four of them. Think one place had 'spada' in its name - really nice place off the highway. Just locals holidaying away from the big city. Caught a sunset on a cliff with a castle on it somewhere too - never heard of it either. Really cool.
