Ritter is right that Iraq is not a threat to the US,however the threat [that the US never speaks about]is to the US friendly regimes that are oil exporters. These regimes are propped up by the 'west' and are run by despots of one type or another. The US has perfected the 'despot installment' system with the UK over many years and it is this that it sees as under threat. With improved education and communications in these countries it is inevitable that these regimes will fall and be replaced by more educated people. However using the blunt instrument of war by a superior power over an inferior one is hardly likely to win support. It is time the west began supporting intelligent elements around the world instead of showing how 'dense' the west can be when they have a low IQ at the top.The next generation coming into power has grown up in an information overload world of computers and the internet;their main source of info. is not newspapers and television but the free press of the 21st century, the internet.American is as much under threat from their own citizens as those from overseas;it is time for the old establishment to step aside while they can with dignity.
