The most laughable defence I see plastered around the news from the government was that the mining industry said the same thing when native title was introduced and that this did not impact investment in Australia.

Of course it didn't
1) It just stopped exploration in its tracks
2) Shoved Australia down the soverign risk table
3) Failed the Native Title Claimants miserably
4) Increased costs
5) Suffocated Australian Resources for over a decade

Native title stopped the rate of discovery of new mines in Australia.

Rudds tax is set to finish the job.
