The Federal Office of Road Safety (FORS) has been asleep at the wheel for the past 2 years in relation to the obvious vehicle safety issue posed by Takata air bags. This issue has been going on for at least 2 years; so much so that the airbag manufacturer is now virtually bankrupt and the multinational auto manufacturers & importers operating in Australia
and responsible for the recall being allowed to drag their asses on this issue.
FORS is tasked by the Federal Transport Minister under the Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989-2002 to oversee
the Act and where necessary, to instigate vehicle recalls where public safety is at risk. Obviously public safety is at risk according to other jurisdictions.
Perhaps the Transport Minister should be asked why FORS has taken no action on this serious issue and has left it to
Consumer Affairs to act.
