Anyone that raise the issue of FMG undercutting the ore price is only playing with Australian sentiments ,to feel some sympathy for BHP and RIO.Twiggy is not letting Australia down as evident by his charitable self."
Not me. I hold no shares in BHP or RIO and have no sympathy for them as competitors. But what is good for them in terms of pricing is good for all Australian iron ore producers (including FMG) and all Australian citizens (through tax revenues and royalties). I hold a couple of iron ore juniors who are also stuffed around by the big players. Perhaps the other juniors should undercut the FMG prices and start a race to the bottom? That's what the Chinese ultimately hope for - if only there weren't the tricky issues of infrastructure and ore quality.
Not interested in the story of twiggy going it alone against the odds, giving to charity, ignored by the press and financial institutions blah blah blah. That's also tacky sentimentality with no relevance to the dog-eat-dog world of business - which is all that matters, as other posters have mentioned.
