FMG have a JV with Boasteel in their magnetite projects in WA, so it makes sense to attract even further chinese investment. This will definitely bring in a bit of money to fund expansions and pay of debt. I think its a good idea and very clever thinking from a strategic point of view. As I'm sure FMGs chinese customers, strategic investors etc want something out of this great company...
