Results in project failure because & if the customer base had options. I work for an organization that replaced its core IT systems a few years ago, during which the job i was doing at the time went to India, with a system that was worse in MOST aspects though better in SOME. However, due to politics, face saving, $ etc there was no going back, we have had to live with it, get used to it and go through the expensive exercise of slowly fixing it while its a live system. Luckily this didn't happen here and they can re-work it in much quicker time.
