Not sure about totally blowing your theory , just because they do it does not mean it is the ideal method , you also can get custom hard tail motorcycles (motorcycles without any rear suspension ) but I would not want to ride one on the road from Alice to Adelaide .
A large rear mass hub motor is going to also be a very rough ride on a motorcycle based on newtons third law , hard to change the law of physics
