fossicking in tennant creek nt

Has anyone fossicked in Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory?

I'm here for a month with other work and visiting my brother but am looking to do a little gold fossicking while I'm here.

Anyone have any tips or spots they have tried?

I have already looked around the area and have studied Emerson resources maps and data but have not sought any approvals from land owners etc.

Also any tips on metal detectors?

I have been looking at Garret detectors and also the coil maker nugget tech. Any suggestions??
