Farms: Klaarwater

At the present time are ranchlands Klaarwater and Koert Louw Zyn Pan (further only “hunting
farms”) used from the juridical subject Catrich No 102 CC for hunting and tourist purposes.
Catrich organize annually hunting for 70-100 hunting clients. Except hunting, the farm is visiting
from clients concentrated for photo-safaris. On account of photo-safaris about 100-150 clients
visit yearly both hunting farms, so it is possible to say that about 200 clients visit yearly this farm.
After six years of keeping tourism on “hunting farm” is considerable interest of customer base
from Europe, USA and lately from Russia. Clients with devotion visit the virgin nature minimally
umbrage from human being activity. Very positively they evaluative the difference of natural
conditions of farm, when bush, herbage and flooded forests region change in the neigbourhoods
of the Limpopo River. And just the from human being intact nature is that, what mostly attracts
always bigger quantity of our clients from the whole world. The area of the farm, its
accommodation capacity, quantity of kept animals is no more sufficient to satisfy raised interest of
the farm visitors. That’s why the representatives of the company Catrich No 102 entered in the
negotiation with another business subjects from Czech Republic and from Russia.
The common intention of all participating subjects is to extend existing territory of farms for about
other 5 000ha, to have more animals, to build about 200 pc hides and in the main, in flooded
forests areas on border of farms Klaarwater and Koert Louw Zyn Pan to build new hunting camp.
This camp will be built in accord with contemporary standards of VIP clientele in natural style,
entirely from traditional natural materials, in order to not to disturb yet intact nature. Water for new
natural camp will be pumped from two water wells in the place of camp sources and convenience
of the camp place, only one place is responding to this requirements – place on the border of
both farms on the hill above wide green field with the view as to the natural bush, so the flooded
forest areas of the farm. Electric energy source for new camp will be done with cable connector in
earth from the place of inhabited territory. Accent will be again se first of all to undisturbed intact
nature of both farms.
For common entrepreneurial intention plan the newly arose union to invest in Limpopo province
about 10-15 million euros. To the common company will be enclosed the present “hunting farm”
which was for this purpose appreciated with the volume of 4 million euro. The high economical
valuation of the “hunting farm” is given partly with its contemporary estimation, evaluation of
animals and first of all with intact natural conditions. Here we must to suggest, that if the
unaffected natural environment will be disturb, for example with building up of high voltage
transmission line of electric energy, the market price of the “hunting farm” will considerably
decrease. The market price of the farm would then be 1-1.5 million euros. Beyond the decrease
of the market price of the “hunting farm” in case of build up of the high voltage transmission line of
electric energy across the territory of the “hunting farm” it will come to considerable decrease of
clientage and to the damage increase to supposed 1-1.5 million euros for each calendar year.
The damage caused by die build up electric line across the “hunting farm” would so achieve at
once 2.5-3 million euros and annual decrease of revenues for 1-1.5 million euros. Economic
intention is counting with the minimal duration of business on territory of the “hunting farm” for a
period of 15 years. The supposed total losses arisen with the build up of the high voltage
transmission line will present about 25 million euros.
From the above mentioned reasons and due to arise of the damage of 25 million euros (R230
million) during the time of the minimal existence of this economic intention, we absolutely do not
agree with the intention of the build up of high voltage line of electric energy across the private
territory of the farm Klaarwater and Koert Louw Zyn Pan.
Response:
Mrs Visnakova was visited on her farm on the 14th September. This is following earlier visits by a
number of the specialists. Her concerns were noted and incorporated into the overall assessment
of the preferred routes.
