I don't have a problem with payment being provided for blood donation.
I think the issue is inadequate checks and balances in the process allowing "donations" to be made by high risk category people such as drug users.
More care should also be taken that the giving/selling of blood does not adversely affect the health of those giving. It seems the only "health check" in place at these plasma centres in the USA was a blood pressure test.....but this test was taken not to protect those giving, but to ensure the production line was not slowed down.
Obviously tighter regulation is required, however the pharmaceutical lobby in the US is very powerful.
I don't have a problem with payment being provided for blood...
