I agree, but not just albo to blame. The general public seems to think government spending is magical free money. I seriously wish I was exaggerating, but I am not.
When they beg politicians to spend more, politicians who want to stay in power spend more. Then the logical cause and effect follows.
We're a bit biased here because it's an investment forum, so pretty much everyone here understands how supply and demand works...not so in the public sphere. Even worse is the ignorance being celebrated. I have had several conversations with people over the years in real life attempting to explain how the system works so they can personally improve their situation. I don't bother anymore.
