Nobody denies that these problems exist in the wider community but I have never seen anyone deny that it exists to a much,much GREATER extent in the indigenous community.
There is an old saying 'That until you recognise you have a problem you will not resolve it', Whilst alcohol abuse is certainly prevalent in the wider community it is much more prevalent in the indigenous community, especially where access to those communities is denied to the outside world. This allows the perpertrators of incest and paedophilia to continue their criminal acts unimpeded.
I am very suspicious of those who are opposed to the NT intervention when it is so very obvious that real deep seated problems exists in these (especially remote) communities. What are their real motives?
